This calculation automatically computes the Total Cost of Ownership for each Application by summing its Licensing Costs, Maintenance Costs, and Support Costs. The result is written directly to the Total Cost of Ownership field, keeping your financial data up-to-date with less manual effort.
Details
Understanding the total cost of ownership of your application landscape helps organizations make informed decisions about rationalization, investment, and vendor negotiations. By aggregating licensing, maintenance, and support costs per application, this calculation gives architects and business stakeholders a clear financial picture of where money is being spent and where there is the most leverage to reduce costs.
The calculation runs automatically whenever Licensing Costs, Maintenance Costs, or Support Costs change on an Application fact sheet. No manual trigger is needed.
The output field is updated with the sum of the three cost components. If any component is unset it is treated as 0.
Field availability: In new workspaces these fields are part of the base model and no additional extension is required. In older workspaces the required fields are provided by the Application Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) use case extension, which installs both the meta model and the calculation in one step. This standalone calculation is intended for workspaces where the use case extension is already installed but the calculation was deleted or modified and needs to be reset.
The logic is:
export function main() {
const lxApplicationLicensingCosts = data.lxApplicationLicensingCosts || 0;
const lxApplicationMaintenanceCosts = data.lxApplicationMaintenanceCosts || 0;
const lxApplicationSupportCosts = data.lxApplicationSupportCosts || 0;
return lxApplicationLicensingCosts +
lxApplicationMaintenanceCosts +
lxApplicationSupportCosts;
}
